STATEMENT: ON MY WORK HUE - 2015

I am constantly searching for ways to challenge my perception of dance. I investigate various conceptual frameworks which can offer a strong kinesthetic impression on the viewer. Working with visual arts was a logical way to amplify this potential. HUE is particularly interesting for me in terms of the material we shared among people: our body. Having different types of performers and audience members in the room invited me to consider two areas of inquiry; the performativity of a ‘non-dance-trained’ body and the media of each of my collaborators (visual/sound). I was challenged to observe the entity of the space we created and not only my choreography. We formed a paste, where every event and media were meticulously put into place, designing a specific atmosphere. As a collaborative project, HUE implemented in my research a wider perspective towards choreography and broadened my dance practice. I had to invent a form of choreography that was receptive enough to welcome other people and media to it and solid enough to offer a clear direction. These notions are worthy of giving time to: this is how we find ways of co-existing in a performative space.
